The Quality Inspection room has recently been refurbished at PMS Diecasting as part of our ongoing ‘Project Springboard’. Liam Yarrow, Electrical Apprentice at PMS Diecasting, has been working with Craig Reading on electrically upgrading the inspection room and creating a job report for his NVQ. His report included further details of the below: – Wooden brackets were created and fixed to the wall to screw dado onto.
– Dado was cut down to size.

Three Peaks Challenge

On Saturday 20th May, Matt Hanson set out with 26 members of the Sheffield Wednesday community programme which included his dad, brother and two family friends, to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield. The hike started at 07:00 with a steep incline up the first peak Pen-y-Ghent. After reaching the summit it was then a steady descent to the foot of Whernside passing the Ribblehead viaduct before the heavens opened which made for an intense and challenging half a mile incline to the summit. London Marathon Fundraiser.

Carolyn Ekins, Digital Media Coordinator at PMS Diecasting, successfully completed the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday April 23rd, as a charity runner for the Royal British Legion. With the support of PMS, GoTools and Laser Scanning employees, friends and family, £1080 has been raised so far for the Royal British Legion via her fundraising page at “It was an amazing experience being part of this event with 40,000 other runners and the London crowds were great fun and very supportive. Luke Scott, Design Manager at PMS Diecasting, has been honoured with the Pontifex Travel Award by the Worshipful Company of Armourers & Brasiers in the City of London under the recommendation of a committee including the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire. The Pontifex Award is part of the joint education scheme between the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire and the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers which annually distributes prizes and awards for students at Sheffield Hallam University and young managers in the steel industry. Aspiration Day!

The 3rd Aspiration Day at Sheffield Park Academy took place on Friday 20th January 2017. Luke Scott and Calvin Higginbottom were there to represent PMS Diecasting and talk to students about careers in engineering and roles within the manufacturing/diecasting industry. ‘Aspiration Day’ is about showing students the different roles/ jobs and courses that are available to them for when they leave school. GLIDE Fitness Truck

A mobile gym has recently been visiting PMS Diecasting to offer a 30 minute circuit training session to any employees who wish to participate. The sessions consist of several different exercise stations which include equipment like battle ropes, kettle bells, resistance bands and medicine/smash balls. Each employee, after stretches and a warm up, spent a timed 3 minutes on each of several stations with a short cool down between each of the three circuits. Well done and thank you to all at PMS Diecasting who donated towards the Rotherham Homeless Christmas Shoebox Appeal. Fourteen shoe boxes packed full of goodies have been delivered to Lawns Farm Shop in Wickersley (thank you Nicola Panter) and will be opened on Christmas Day by those who have nothing and are homeless. Every Christmas, homeless people not only have to deal with the fact that they are homeless as well as other issues, but also have to deal with the “happy” part of the year, sometimes alone. Marathon Fundraiser.

Alicja Rybaczuk ran the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon on Sunday October 9th as Team PMS for ‘The Children’s Hospital Charity’. Completing 26.2 miles in just over 6 hours, for a first time marathon showed great determination and perseverance as well as commitment to an ongoing training schedule over several months. What a fantastic achievement! Team PMS, employees of PMS Diecasting and friends and family, raised £752 through a raffle, bake sale and online fundraising for the charity. The Dale Carnegie course, ‘Winning Friends and Influencing People’ recently took place from the 20th – 22nd September 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Leeds and was successfully completed by PMS Diecasting employees, Alicja Rybaczuk and Carolyn Ekins. PMS Diecasting strives to send all it’s employees to attend a Dale Carnegie course.
