Real Time Control

Our Frech Diecasting machines are fitted with Real Time Control (RC). This is additional sophisticated measuring equipment that measures the actual pressures and velocities during the injection process and compares them to a set of pre-determined parameters. This allows the diecasting machine to compensate for variances within the production cycle such as melt temperature, wear of piston rings and hydraulic pressures. It then regulates the injection of zinc so that each injection profile is consistent. During the casting operation, the highly dynamic movements of the plunger and the casting force are sensed. Deviations from programmed parameters in the controller lead to immediate correction via the electrohydraulic cyclinder controller. This procedure during the injection process is a feature of a diecasting machine with digital real-time control, abbreviated to the RC machine.

Advantages of Real Time (RC) Control

Considerable improvements can be obtained for casting thin-walled and large surface parts which tend to burr. Burr can be avoided by actively decelerating shortly before the mold is filled. Even for parts with a short fill time and those that require high reproductibility of the casting process from shot to shot. By dimensioning the die size with sufficiently large shot system cross-sections, RC technology offers the operator the following advantages:-

  • Optimised casting quality and dimensional precision
  • Avoidance of burr and porosity
  • Reduction in pressure peaks in casting system
  • Metal saving
  • Longer die life
  • High reproductibility from shot to shot
  • Simple programming
  • Small, faster machines by avoiding pressure peaks and therefore smaller locking force is required
